Lieutenant John Whybrow M.C. KSLI

Awarded the Military Cross for valour and distinction in battle, these are the personal recollections of Lt John Whybrow M.C. In his own words.

Lieutenant John Whybrow. Military Cross. Kings Shropshire Light Infantry served in the Korean Campaign and was subsequently wounded not once but twice. His second wounds were received in a daring assault on a North Korean bunker, where face to face with the enemy whilst trying to personally lay explosive charges, he was shot in the legs. Eventually saved by his men he lost a leg due to the severity of his wounds. Here in his own words he tells his own story, of his entry into military service, his experience of the Korean War and the men he served with and his life after the war.
